Senior Sales Associate, part-time

The New Lebanon Farmers Market & Grocery is hiring a part-time Senior Sales Associate for our innovative farmers market & grocery.

Our mission is to support committed, local food producers, including farmers, foragers, artisans, cooks, butchers, bakers, and cheesemakers. We buy and market their products and we help them build relationships with customers. We provide pop-up space at our market for that purpose, and we publish a daily newsletter highlighting local foods and food producers.

This Senior Sales Associate will have a leadership role in developing and executing this mission and will help manage our customer experience, including evenings and weekends.

The ideal candidate will have lots of experience creating compelling customer or guest experiences and some experience as a manager. In addition, the ideal candidate will have an adventuresome disposition, an eagerness to adapt with a growing business, and a team-centric attitude.

The ideal candidate will also understand New Lebanon and neighboring communities, or be enthusiastic about learning about us, and will be inspired by the dynamic nature of serving our diverse neighbors.

Key responsibilities:

😊 Host customers, answer their questions, and fulfill their orders, solving their problems in a friendly, neighborly manner
🥫 Help keep the market well stocked, organized, and looking its best, delegating tasks to other staffers and volunteers when appropriate
🤓 Address operational issues as they arise, recognizing what can be handled independently and when to loop in other leadership team members

Key qualifications:

💃 At least five years of business, retail, or management experience
👋 Passion for creating a warm, welcoming customer experience and getting to know your neighbors
🥕 Interest in sustainable agriculture and a desire to improve our food system
📱 Proficient at point-of-sale systems and email and technology generally
📆 Willingness to work evenings and weekends
📝 Strong writing and communication skills
🔜 Flexibility and an openness to changes in direction
🦺 Respect for food safety
💪 Ability to lift 40 pounds

This is a part-time position, and the compensation is $22–26/hour. Staff receive a 20% discount. There are currently no other benefits.
